Professional Biography
Lorna hails from northern Indiana but spent most of her life in Texas, where she received her MPH from The University of Texas College of Public Health. She moved to Rowan County, Kentucky in 2020 and has fallen in love with the beauty of the Central Appalachian mountainous ridges in the Daniel Boone National Forest from her home on a hillside. She has over 25 years of experience coordinating/managing research studies and managing grants at The University of Texas institutions and at Baylor College of Medicine. Since moving to Kentucky, she has worked part-time for UK, first as the Kentucky Safe Aging Coalition Coordinator with KIPRC in the College of Public Health and then with the HEALing Communities study. Currently she is coordinating the Laurel HARVEST project, which is partnering with the Laurel County Extension Office and other community organizations in the application of interventions to improve food and nutrition security.
